Dulles International airport became a gateway airport for general aviation aircraft qualified to use Ronald Reagan Washington National airport on 2 January. This makes Dulles one of 17 airports at which flights destined for Reagan must stop to allow flightcrews to be vetted and passengers screened. The security programme was rolled out in July 2005 to restore some access to GA after it was banned from Reagan in 2001.
