The Royal Netherlands Air Force is to investigate the fatal crash of a Lockheed Martin F-16AM fighter in Afghanistan's southern Ghazni province on 31 August. The Dutch defence ministry has ruled out a missile attack as a possible cause of the accident, which happened when the aircraft was flying at high altitude while being flown in a close air-support mission to protect NATO troops. Delivered in 1987, the aircraft - J-364 - was operating from Kabul International airport.
