The Royal Netherlands Air Force is to receive two ex-US Navy Lockheed Martin C-130H Hercules from Derco Aerospace under a deal that will double its fleet of the tactical transports, writes Anno Gravemaker.
A €54 million ($63 million) contract signed in late November covers the acquisition of the two stored EC-130Q aircraft for €9 million, plus the provision of maintenance, modification and cockpit upgrade services worth €42 million. Refurbishment work will be conducted by Marshall Aerospace of the UK.
The aircraft will join the air force’s two C-130H-30s during 2007. The service also acquired a third McDonnell Douglas DC-10 transport earlier this year.
