The Royal Netherlands Air Force has selected CMC Electronics (E211) to supply a suite of avionics equipment for an upgrade to its two McDonnell Douglas KDC-10 air tankers and one DC-10 passenger/cargo aircraft.
The aircraft are being upgraded to meet the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s requirements for communication, navigation and surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM). Once upgraded, the aircraft will meet the Precision Area Navigation (PRNAV) requirements.
The company will supply and integrate two of its CMA-900 Global Positioning System-based Flight Management Systems (GPS/FMS) per aircraft as well as the communications management unit, data loader and engine instrument display system (EIDS). The EIDS is a digital display that replaces the original electro-mechanical instruments for the engines. CMC will also handle the avionics installation design.
