Dutch air accident investigators have recovered the tail section from the wreckage of flight MH17 after a second day of work at the crash site in the Ukraine.
In a statement the Dutch Safety Board said the recovery team was able to work as planned on recovering the wreckage for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER.
"Among others the tail section of the aircraft was recovered today," it says. The recovered wreckage was brought to Torez in the Ukraine from where it will be transported by train to Kharkov.
Dutch investigators are working on a partial reconstruction of the aircraft in support of the investigation into the cause of the crash. The recovery operation continues tomorrow and the Dutch Safety Board says if conditions remains the same, the recovery could be completed in about five days.
MH17 was lost on as it passed over eastern Ukraine, en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. Investigators have been trying to determine whether the aircraft was brought down by hostile action, possibly with a surface-to-air missile.
