Manufacturing software solution provider Tecnomatrix Technologies has been awarded a $3.5 million follow-on order from EADS Airbus for its eMPower e-Manufacturing software. The software tools, including solutions for assembly process definition, operations sequence validation, manual accessibility studies and flow simulation, will be used to design assembly processes for the Airbus A380. Air Canada has awarded Unisys a $30 million, seven-year contract to web-enable the airline's cargo-related information technology systems. Unisys' e-@ction Logistics Solutions will allow shippers to track cargo. Unisys is handling the freight airway bills and information processing for Air Canada and Canadian Airlines, which the former took over last year, in a move which is expected to reduce costs by 50%. All Nippon Airways (ANA) has become the latest carrier to commit to using Jet-A.com to purchase fuel. ANA will use the internet service from the second quarter. Jet-A.com includes six major oil companies, plus airline B2B consortiums AirNewco and Aeroexchange (which ANA is a member of). Delta Air Lines has added a booking function for corporate accounts to its delta.com website following a nine-month beta test. The as yet unnamed pan-Asian travel exchange which is being formed by 11 of the region's major airlines has selected Travelocity as its primary technology provider. Travel services will be launched from mid-year. British Airways has launched on-line business travel portal, Your Travel Manager, to provide a one-stop travel shop for small to medium-sized companies. Rockwell Collins has added its Government Systems 2001 product catalogue to its website. US carrier Midwest Express Airlines has signed a deal with loyalty programme asset management company Points.com, which is establishing an internet portal to manage points, miles and other loyalty programme currencies.
