Airline-led internet marketplace Aeroxchange has recruited Air India, BMI British Midland and EVA Air, taking its airline membership to 29 carriers. Airlines gain access to services including co-operative purchasing, inventory management and parts reliability solutions. Aerospace parts and aftermarket supply chain services specialist Aviall Services has selected Xelus to provide consulting services and inventory planning software. This quarter Aviall will add XelusExtend and XelusLink software applications to manage stock levels at 40 service centres. Xelus has teamed with aviation maintenance software supplier Mxi Technologies to offer a single solution for aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul combining maintenance planning, tracking and scheduling with inventory planning, forecasting and sourcing software. The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has signed a deal to implement the Middle East airportXchange portal. AirportXchange provides procurement services allowing airports to tender contracts and accept bids on-line, plus airport information and travel planning services. Virtual Prototypes' internet-based VAPS tool has been chosen by Germany's CargoLifter to aid design and development of cockpit avionics and displays on its airships. VAPS will allow CargoLifter's design work to be accessed by avionics suppliers.
