EADS has made technology awards to six British university students who, it says, represent the next generation of UK aerospace engineering.
In an event, held at the Houses of Parliament, the six winners of the EADS UK Technology Masters Awards were presented with prizes valued at £5,000 ($8,800) each. The recipients, three each from the University of Liverpool and Cranfield University, are MSc students who have undergone a thorough selection process.
In its second year, the scheme was developed by EADS to support British students studying for one-year MSc qualifications in aerospace and space. EADS UK chief executive Robin Southwell, who presented the awards, says: “It was a pleasure to meet some of the best young British engineers and scientists, who will be developing the next generation of aviation and space technology. EADS is constantly on the look-out for talented young people...We are delighted and committed to investing in the future of British aerospace engineering.” Professor Gareth Padfield of the University of Liverpool says: “We are proud that EADS has chosen to award students of the University of Liverpool their prestigious award for a second year.”
The winners were Diane Doran, Stephen Greenland and Christopher O’Brien-Organ of Cranfield University; and Neilson Bedwell, Owen Mills and Kwok Wing Ng of the University of Liverpool.
