EADS Casa has opened a new "hush-house" hangar to test military aircraft engines at Getafe, Spain. The hush-house, which is part of EADS Casa's investment in the Eurofighter programme, features acoustic treatments, which allow engine tests to be performed at any time, including at night, without creating noise pollution in the immediate environment. The facility comprises a central area where the test aircraft is parked, control and observation cabins and acoustic containment devices. Engine emissions are directed through a silencer tail tube, while a final expansion house absorbs expelled gases.
