EADS has set up a Russian subsidiary, OOOEADS, to oversee its activities in the country. Chief executive Vadim Vlasov will oversee co-operation between EADS Space and Russian engine and launcher manufacturers; joint marketing of the Beriev Be-200 amphibian with Irkut and Rolls-Royce Deutschland; and a planned move by Airbus to place $10 million worth of contracts with Russian subcontractors. EADS co-chief executive Rainer Hertrich recently met Russian deputy prime minister Boris Alyoshin to lobby for the removal of laws banning foreign executives from running Russian-based aerospace companies and restricting foreign shareholders to a 25% stake.
