Airbus owner EADS has revamped its branding, unveiling new corporate logos and renaming its defence and security division as Cassidian.

The umbrella brand EADS gains a new logo, as do each of the company's four divisions: aircraft manufacturer Airbus, rotorcraft specialist Eurocopter, space unit Astrium, and Cassidian.

"This brand renovation embodies exactly the spirit of Vision 2020, our strategy for EADS's next 10 years," says EADS chief executive Louis Gallois.

The revamp is intended to "reinforce each of the four divisions, give them the visibility they need to market their business, and at the same time materialise the strength and unity of the group", he adds.

EADS's redesigned website sets out a capsule mission statement for each division. Airbus is to "design the most innovative commercial and military aircraft"; Astrium to "design ground-breaking civil and military space systems and services that bring benefits on Earth"; Cassidian to "design state-of-the-art security solutions for armed forces and civil security worldwide"; and Eurocopter to "design top-notch technology that makes our helicopters quieter and more fuel-efficient".
