EVANS & SUTHERLAND (E&S) has signed an agreement with SEOS Displays covering the supply of display equipment for the US company's visual systems. E&S says that the agreement with UK-based SEOS completes the company's strategic plan to establish itself as an independent supplier of visual systems, rather than remain just an image-generator vendor.

SEOS will supply the display-system optical elements. The company produces Midas collimated display windows, Prodas front-projection displays and Panorama collimated projection displays. Panorama wide-angle displays are included in E&S' recent contracts to supply visual systems to Airbus Industrie, for A320 and A330/A340 simulators being built by Thomson Training & Simulation (TTS), and to Reflectone UK, for Royal Air Force Lockheed Martin C-130J simulators.

Salt Lake City, Utah-based E&S established itself as an independent supplier of commercial-simulator visual systems in 1994, ending its long-standing exclusive relationship with UK supplier Rediffusion after the company had been acquired by TTS.

E&S previously supplied image generators for commercial visual systems marketed by Rediffusion. In 1995, the company acquired US training-device manufacturer Xionix in a move to broaden the market for its visual systems.
