Evans & Sutherland (E&S) is to supply its EP-1000CT visual system for an unannounced Embraer 170 full-flight simulator being built by CAE for Saudi Arabian Airlines. The EP-1000CT has also been selected by Malaysian Airlines for a Thales-built Airbus A380 simulator, and E&S says its visual has now been chosen by all the airlines that have ordered A380 simulators, including CAE machines for Emirates and Qantas and a Thales device for Singapore Airlines.

CAE declines to confirm the Saudi order. Meanwhile, Flight International has learned that the “undisclosed third-party customer” for an Airbus A320 full-flight simulator plus A320 and Boeing Next Generation 737 flight-training devices, announced by CAE in December, is Spain’s Indra, which a month earlier signed a €20.6 million ($25 million) contract with Beijing-based Air China to supply the training equipment.

E&S, meanwhile, says Airbus is launch customer for its new EP-10 low-cost visual system, which was certificated in December on an A320 training device in Toulouse. The EP-10 has commercial PC hardware, but uses the core software and high-fidelity airport models that run on the high-end EP-1000CT. The Airbus trainer has a 180°-wide “direct view” display.
