EasyJet is to participate in the insolvency process for German carrier Air Berlin, confirming its interest in possible asset acquisition.
The airline states that it has "submitted a proposal" to acquire parts of the troubled carrier's short-haul business.
EasyJet says this proposal is "consistent" with its "focused, city-based strategy" in Germany.
"Given a number of uncertainties associated with Air Berlin, there is no certainty at this stage that any transaction will proceed," it adds.
Several companies have expressed interest in acquiring parts of Air Berlin, which filed for insolvency in mid-August.
