EasyJet pilots represented by UK union BALPA have abandoned plans for industrial action after accepting a new proposal put forward by the budget carrier to mitigate concerns over pilot fatigue.
The union says its members voted 68% in favour of the latest proposal from EasyJet. It has not disclosed the nature of the improved offer it received.
"This is a positive outcome for BALPA and EasyJet, and the fact we have managed to reach a deal that satisfies most of our members is testament to BALPA's ethos of professional engagement," states the union's general secretary, Brian Strutton. "BALPA will now be working closely with EasyJet to ensure this agreement delivers real improvements to pilots' lifestyles."
BALPA had balloted its members on the issue in September.
