EasyJet is to axe its London-Amman route at the beginning of May in response to disappointing passenger volumes.
After carrying out a “comprehensive review”, the UK low-cost carrier says it has decided to end its thrice-weekly service from London Gatwick to Jordan’s capital on 4 May.
“Whilst EasyJet has made every effort to promote this route, passenger demand has not been at a viable level to maintain it. EasyJet has a disciplined approach to the routes it operates. This means making tough decisions on underperforming routes so that the airline can concentrate its efforts on maintaining and developing routes which improve returns for shareholders,” says Luton-based EasyJet.
Innovata schedules show this was EasyJet’s only service to Jordan and that its withdrawal leaves British Airways and Royal Jordanian Airlines to contest the route.
