Montreal-based CMC Electronics says its PilotView electronic flight bag (EFB) has been cleared for installation in the Bombardier Challenger 605 large business jet.~
US modification centre Midcoast Aviation has been granted an FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) covering installation of PilotView in side mounting brackets to the left and right of the pilot and co-pilot respectively. The company has been installing PilotView in Bombardier’s Global Express and Challenger 604 for the past two years.
“PilotView is a Class 2 EFB, semi-permanently installed in the aircraft,” says John Barker, CMC marketing and sales director for the Americas. “But it has many of the features found in high-end Class 3 equipment, including FMS-style line-select keys, a high-resolution, fully dimmable display and integrated communications capabilities.”
PilotView is used to support pre-flight planning and provide efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation, checklists and flight-planning information. In-flight it increases situational awareness by delivering en-route and approach charts, a moving-map display and graphical real-time weather information.
