British charter operator Gama Aviation has announced it will open an office in Dubai, to be operational by September. Speaking at the show today, chief executive Marwan Khalek said the company will double its Dubai operations within a year after opening.
Earlier this year Gama acquired US luxury charter operator PrivatAir. It announced at yesterday’s show that it will add a Hawker 4000 and two Hawker 800XPs to its books. Khalek says: “We plan to add at least five more aircraft by the end of this year.”
The company both owns and operates aircraft and its managed fleet now stands at more than 65, ranging from helicopters to a Boeing Business Jet.
This year Gama Aviation’s parent company Gama Holdings is celebrating 25 years in business. Khalek commented on the company’s humble roots. He said: “We started in 1983 expecting to fly celebrities, but our first job was ferrying premature piglets for the Pig Improvement Board.”
