Amira Air has become the first operator of Bombardier's new large cabin Global 5000 business jet after it took delivery of aircraft MSN001 last month (registration OE-III).

The Vienna-based executive jet charter operator's jet boasts another first as well, being the launch aircraft for the Bombardier Global Vision flight deck. Jointly developed with Rockwell Collins, Global Vision utilises "synthetic vision" imagery on a head-up display, designed to enhance comfort and safety and reduce pilot fatigue.

Amira Air team leader sales Christian Schmadlbauer says: "We are proud to be the first operator to receive this Global 5000 equipped with this brand new flight deck. It integrates perfectly with out fleet and adds to the different capacity and distance options we can offer our clients. The Global 5000 can fly close to 5,200nm [9,630km] at Mach 0.85. This means that we can offer nonstop flights between Vienna and New York or Tokyo."

The Global 5000 also has the largest cabin in its class and can accommodate 12 passengers and three crew.
