Avidyne and CMC have partnered to deliver weather, moving map, trip planning and text messages worldwide to operators equipped with several CMC electronic flight bags and Avidyne's MLX770 Iridium-based datalink system.

The datalink weather will be accessed from Avidyne's network operations centre and shown on CMC's PilotView 21cm (8.4in) CMA-1100 MkII and 26cm CMA-1410 EFBs. Graphical radar data is available in Europe and Australia, as well as in North America. Avidyne also provides worldwide winds and temperatures aloft, lightning, forecasts and satellite infrared. The hardware adds approximately 1.8kg (4lb) to a CMC EFB installation, says Avidyne.
