Bombardier is strengthening its capacity to provide aircraft on ground support in Europe and the CIS - home to more than 580 of its business jets - by increasing staffing of its Mobile Response Team by 30%. The move is part of the Canadian airframer's strategy to build one of the most comprehensive service and maintenance networks in the industry to support its expanding customer base.
Six European Aviation Safety Agency-licensed technical and maintenance experts, based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, are available around the clock to perform aircraft-on-the-ground maintenance in the region. Bombardier will add two more engineers by July.
"Customer service is something we have been working very hard on," said James Hoblyn, Bombardier's president, customer services and specialised and amphibious aircraft. "We focus on three areas. Quality - parts dispatch and reliability; responsiveness - being there for our customers whatever it takes; and international deployment."
Bombardier has 62 maintenance facilities worldwide including nine company owned. "This is more than anyone else in the industry," said Hoblyn. This includes bases in mainland China and Monterray in Brazil, which were added earlier this year. Bombardier has also boosted capacity at its wholly owned Schiphol service centre in Amsterdam by adding shifts and increasing staffing levels by 30% this year.
The 4,240m2 (45,640ft2) facility is also adding the Challenger 850 to the list of business jets that it supports.
