In-flight entertainment (IFE) and connectivity specialist IDAIR [stand 1085] confirms its first integrated Global Communications Suite is scheduled to enter service in early 2014 on board an undisclosed VIP or VVIP-class large jet.
Panasonic Avionics and Lufthansa Technik formed the joint venture in April 2011 to pursue IFE and connectivity sales for business jets, with the target market starting at the size of the Boeing 737 or Airbus A320.
The Global Communications Suite, IDAIR's debut product, merges a Ku-band communications system with IFE products, such as mobile phones, broadband internet and live TV, as an integrated system.
The suite is developed by combining the Lufthansa Technik Nice system and the Panasonic X series, including the eXPhone, eXConnect and eXTV.
