NEWQUAY UPGRADE
Newquay Cornwall Airport and its fixed based operator Weston Aviation are at the show for the third year in a row, this time to launch their new FBO facility that provides clients and crews with a VIP lounge, self-briefing facilities and direct controlled zone airside access with private parking. Weston Aviation, which opened its executive/business aviation facility at Newquay in 2003, reports a 14% increase in executive handling in the first quarter of 2010.
STANDARDAERO ASSISTANCE
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE)-owned StandardAero will provide its TPE331 customers' unscheduled maintenance cost assistance free of charge with every overhaul event. The programme offers pro-rated cost assistance on unscheduled maintenance for a period of four years from the date of initial installation following overhaul by StandardAero. The programme is designed to significantly reduce customers' financial exposure to long-term, unscheduled maintenance costs.
ASSOCIATED ADDS
Associated Air Center's maintenance and repair division has added more services to support Boeing Business Jet customers, including mandatory fuel tank modifications, main landing gear trunion pin replacements and lower cabin altitude modifications. AAC recently completed its 17th SFAR-88 tank modification on a BBJ, in line with a recent Federal Aviation Adiministration airworthiness directive. As the BBJ fleet achieves full SFAR-88 compliance, the next major event driving scheduled maintenance visits are the main landing gear forward trunion pin replacement, also driven by an FAA AD, and a landing gear overhaul due to calendar time limits. Until recently, BBJ aircraft were certified for an 8,000ft (2,440m) cabin altitude while flying at a maximum service ceiling of 41,000ft. In response to customer demand to improve passenger comfort and reduce crew fatigue, Boeing engineered and recently received FAA certification for a 6,500ft cabin altitude modification. AAC has completed these modifications on four BBJs with another one scheduled in the near term.
HBC EXPANDS PARTS DEAL
Hawker Beechcraft's global customer support unit has signed an agreement with Schenker Logistics for parts distribution in London, Dubai and Singapore. Hawker Beechcraft has identified and assigned inventories of the most widely ordered and preferred spare parts, valued at more than $40 million, to be maintained at facilities in these three locations. It says the agreement is "part of a multi-phase strategy aimed at improving the experience of Hawker Beechcraft owners by making factory parts more accessible internationally".
UVDATALINK FOR AFIS
Universal Weather and Aviation is expanding its UVdatalink global VHF and Satcom ACARS data link service to provide support to all Honeywell AFIS-equipped aircraft. "Now those operators with AFIS-equipped aircraft that previously had to use another provider for data link services can take advantage of the benefits of using UVdatalink in conjunction with the other services they receive through Universal," says Randy Stephens, senior director, specialty services.
