Arabian Support and Services (Asasco) has sent up joint venture company Arabian Aircraft Shelter (Araishco) in partnership with Arabasco, the largest FBO operator in the Middle East.
Bexair parent Asasco says the new venture will develop, design and build aircraft shelters at Riyadh and Jeddah international airports.
Araishco vice-chairman Mansour Al-Tassansays the $105 million project "is long overdue for VIP and business aircraft sheltering requirements in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf".
Retired general Mohammed Al Shablan, chairman of Araishco and chief executive of Arabasco, saysthe shelter can housein each location more than 30 VIP and business aircraft from the Cessna Citation CJ/XLS up to the Airbus A380.
Al-Tassan says financing is being finalised with local banks and construction start is to begin late this year and be completed by late 2011.
