Houston-based Universal Weather and Aviation has boosted its portfolio of business aviation services with the acquisition of catering and concierge provider Air Chef Holdings, for an undisclosed fee.
The deal includes Air Chef divisions, Air Culinaire, Air Culinaire International and CaterLink Worldwide. Air Chef will operate as a subsidiary of Universal and retains its existing management team.
"We continue to receive feedback from flightcrews and passengers that there is nothing more frustrating as having a successful trip be tarnished by an issue with the catering services," said Mark Carmen, president of Universal.
"This acquisition will allow us to improve the quality of catering delivered around the world to our clients, both via Air Culinaire's kitchens and the global CaterLink network," said Carmen.
Air Culinaire operates 13 kitchens throughout the USA and a further two in Europe at London Luton and Paris Le Bourget, while CaterLink Worldwide serves some 800 airports in markets where Air Culinaire does not operate a kitchen.
