EDM is a model company: It designed and manufactured a series of engines being showcased at Farnborough by Rolls-Royce (Hall 4, G10 and Chalet B32-33). Included is a detailed model of the Rolls-Royce Trent 900. Incorporating animated video graphics, it depicts the engine working and highlights key features on screens inside the unit.
EDM says this is a first with full integration and state-of-the-art audio visuals tailored for audiences. Rolls-Royce's participation in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programme is represented by full-size models of the GE Rolls-Royce F136 engine, the STOVL LiftFan and a working model of the three-bearing swivel module. Other exhibits include full-size aircraft facsimiles of the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Saab/BAE Systems Gripen. Both can be seen on BAE Systems' static display area (OE14).
