The European Space Agency has signed bilateral agreements with air traffic service and air traffic management providers of eight countries on introduction of the European geostationary navigation overlay system (EGNOS) - the European complement to the US global positioning system. The agreements, with France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Portugal, establish the terms of co-operation between the signatories when the system comes into use in early 2002.
