Paris without the Eiffel Tower? Unthinkable! So slip on your tourist clothes and become one of the three million visitors who scale this famous landmark every year.

There are three viewing platforms, 1,652 steps and, for the less intrepid, lifts. There is also a restaurant for more leisurely visits.

Clear days are obviously the best ones to choose, but sunset and late evening perhaps provide the most stunning views across Paris. Also, crowds are less frenetic and the atmosphere more romantic later in the evening.

The tower is open from 9am until midnight every day during June, so there is plenty of opportunity to enjoy this symbol of Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is on the Champ de Mars, close to the Champ-de-Mars RER rail station.
