El Op HUD heads for air transport and business aviation

Israeli military head-up display (HUD) manufacturer El Op is to move into the transport and corporate aviation markets.

The company is to use HUD technology which has helped it secure contracts for upgrading US Air Force Northrop T-38s, the Turkish air force's McDonnell Douglas F-4s and Romanian air force Mikoyan MiG-21s.

Itzhak Hevrony, director of display products in El Op, confirms that the company is developing HUDs for "airliners and business jets". He says that the new HUDs will combine the outputs of sensors such as enhanced vision systems.
