Elbit Systems is in talks with Honeywell and Rockwell Collins about possible future co-operation on next-generation avionics for fighter, transport and rotorcraft platforms.
The Israeli company is seeking partners to invest in the development of its CockpitNG system, which it unveiled at last year's Farnborough air show.
Based on a central large area display that includes all the avionics components in one suite, the CockpitNG display is fully integrated with helmet-mounted and head-up displays. All the system's components use multi-touchscreen technology.
Other features include advanced data and sensor fusion, an electronic flight bag and a 3D vector map including embedded video. Highway-in-the-sky representation is also integrated. Embedded virtual avionics, with full support for virtual radar, electronic warfare equipment and a targeting pod further extend the system.
"This new design is one level above the commonly used glass cockpits and we plan to use the features for civil aviation in tailor-made applications. We believe that this will become the standard," said Yoram Shmuely, joint general manger of Elbit's aerospace division.
Elbit said its modular solution can be tailored to multiple platforms, offering full multi-mission support for attack, emergency services, training and air support duties.
