Elbit Systems of America has been awarded a $17.5 million contract by Boeing to redesign and upgrade the mission processor for its AH-64D Apache Block III attack helicopter.
The activity to provide the new aircraft's avionics and mission equipment with the ability to perform sophisticated networking and onboard computing tasks will be performed over a five-year period, the Elbit subsidiary says.
Elbit Systems of America chief executive Raanan Horowitz says the upgrade programme will ensure that the Apache will be able to take advantage of the latest processing technology available.
