Elbit Systems has been selected for contracts worth $11.1 million to supply electronics units to Lockheed Martin.
The US aerospace giant is to replace the Data Entry Electronics Unit on its F-16. Elbit Systems will develop a commercialised replacement through its wholly-owned Texas-based subsidiary EFW. The two-year development phase will result in 25 prototypes of the enhanced unit based on advanced commercial technologies designated the Commercial Data Entry Electronics Unit (CDEEU).
The CDEEU is part of the US Air Force's Common Configuration Implementation Program (CCIP) for the F-16C/D. Under the terms of the CCIP Lockheed Martin will provide avionics upgrades for Block 40 and 50 F-16s.
Elbit Systems has also won a contract from Lockheed Martin Astronautics in Denver, Colorado, to produce electronic units for the Atlas Centaur Launcher. Some 480 units worth $4.2 million will be supplied during the next two years.
