Israel's Elbit Systems has won a follow-on contract to supply advanced Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) systems for Korea Aerospace Industries' Surion helicopters operated by the army of the Republic of Korea .
The deal, covering a four-year period, follows the success of a 2009 integration programme for the helicopter.
Yoram Shmuely, general manager of Elbit Systems' aerospace division, says the company has formed a local joint venture - Sharp Elbit Systems Aerospace - to focus on advanced military aircraft avionics. "We are considering involving it in the performance of this HMD project as well,” Shmuely notes.
