BFGoodrich has developed an Isolated Fuel Quantity Transmitter (IFQT) to meet the requirements of an airworthiness directive applied to all Boeing 747 Classic aircraft. The IFQT will limit electrical energy and current to levels below those specified in the directive. It uses existing in-tank hardware, wiring, flight deck indicators and volumetric shut-off (VSO) unit.

As a result, the IFQT can be installed without taking an aircraft out of service. It is designed to be installed in a series of discrete steps, each of which can be completed during normal aircraft overnight downtime.
