Israel's Elop is to supply electro-optics to the South Korean Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) for the Korean Multi-Purpose Satellite-2 (KOMPSAT-2), due for launch in 2003.

Yuval Daliot, Elop director of sales and marketing Asia-Pacific, says the company will jointly develop and produce the multi-spectral camera package with KARI.

The system will include a 1m (3ft) resolution panchromatic (black and white) channel and four multi-spectral channels with a 4m resolution. Elop is also responsible for the data transmission subsystem, management unit and power supply.

KOMPSAT-2 is a follow-on to the KOMPSAT-1 launched late last year, which has a single panchromatic sensor with a 6m resolution.
