Elta is to offer a version of its EL/M-2022 multimode maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) radarfor unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). UAVs are being considered as adjuncts to, and potential replacements for, MPAs.
Elta general manager Israel Livnat says the market for the multimode maritime radars is "considerable".
Israel Aircraft Industries subsidiary Elta has recently completed EL/M-2022 deliveries to the Royal Australian Air Force for its Lockheed Martin AP-3C Orion upgrade programme and the radar is in service with the Israeli and Spanish navies.
The system has three modes - conventional radar, synthetic aperture radar (SAR)and inverse SAR. It can also be equipped with a tail and nose antennae for 360¡ coverage.
