ASSEMBLY OF THE FIRST Embraer EMB-145 regional turbofan is continuing towards completion. Various fuselage subassemblies built by Embraer and its partners, Enaer of Chile and Sonaca of Belgium, are in the process of being mated ahead of installation of the first wingset being delivered by Spanish company Gamesa. The EMB-145 is scheduled to have its maiden flight later this year and will then undergo a test and certification phase, which is scheduled to take 13 months. The programme will be undertaken with one prototype and three pre-series aircraft, plus a static-test airframe.
