The US Federal Aviation Administration has issued an airworthiness directive requiring the fitting of upgraded horizontal stabiliser control units (HSCU) on Embraer ERJ-135/145 regional jets. The directive is aimed at preventing reversal of the pilot's pitch trim command for the horizontal stabiliser. Any aircraft already fitted with the new HSCU must also have its horizontal stabiliser actuator and pitch trim circuit breaker replaced.
