Embraer's ALX advanced trainer/light combat aircraft has made its first flight on the eve of the Paris air show.
The Brazilian air force has ordered 100 ALXs, also known as the Super Tucano, and the company believes there will also be a "strong" export market.
The first flight, from Embraer's factory near Sao Paulo, took place in early June and was said to be flawless.
Embraer has also rolled out and flown its airborne early warning and surveillance version of the ERJ-145 regional jet - the EMB-145SA.
Equipped with an Ericsson radar, the aircraft has been bought by the Brazilian air force, which will take delivery of five units for surveillance missions over the Amazon. Another four aircraft have been ordered by the Greek air force, which has also placed two option orders.
Mauricio Botelho, Embraer president and chief executive officer, says he is looking to increase the company's military business, which currently accounts for just 10% of sales. "We will be looking for partnerships," he says.
