Embraer is looking for additional financing from Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) to fulfil JetBlue Airways' and US Airways' large orders for regional jets. BNDES has recently released $504 million in financing to Embraer for aircraft orders signed in 2002. But more support is required in 2003, says Embraer vice-president Frederico Curado.
In June, US low-fares carrier JetBlue Airways ordered 100 Embraer 190 regional jets, with 100 options. A month earlier, US Airways agreed to buy 85 Embraer 170s.
