Embraer has secured European validation for its Legacy 450 business jet. The approval comes hot on the heels of Brazilian and US certification for the superlight aircraft, which is earmarked for service entry in the fourth quarter to an undisclosed US-based customer.
The Brazilian manufacturer says Europe is its third largest market – just behind North America and Latin America – with 17% of its 900-strong global business jet fleet based in the region.
The Legacy 450 was launched in 2008 and is the fourth clean-sheet business jet to be developed by Embraer since its Executive Jets division was launched ten years ago.
The seven-seat twin is a smaller and shorter-range version of the midsize Legacy 500, which entered service in 2014. The Legacy 450 is pitched against Cessna’s in-service Citation Latitude, which is still awaiting European approval.
To help grow its market share on the continent, the Brazilian airframer recently appointed Germany’s Atlas Air Services to promote its seven-strong business jet family, which ranges from the entry-level Phenom 100E to the Lineage 1000E VIP airliner.
