Embraer's São Jos dos Campos factory has received two Northrop F-5s for the Brazilian air force upgrade. Embraer is prime contractor for the $285 million five-year 47-aircraft programme. It will give the fighter 15 more years of life and include new avionics, navigation and weapons systems, an electronic warfare suite and a FIAR Grifo-F multimode pulse Doppler radar.
