Embraer has secured a deal worth over $1 billion to build up to 75 Legacy corporate jet versions of the ERJ-135 regional airliner.

Scheduled charter operator Indigo Air, based at Chicago Midway airport, has placed 25 firm orders and has options on an additional 50 aircraft.

The deal, subject to Indigo obtaining finance for the order, will initially see the charter operator use the aircraft on shuttle services between Midway and Teterboro airport in New Jersey four times daily. The 18-seat aircraft will replace the Dassault Falcon 20. Indigo intends to increase the frequencies between Chicago and New Jersey and add Atlanta Peachtree de Kalb airport, says Peter Pappas, Indigo Air president.

The Legacy received Brazilian certification earlier this month. Embraer now has 73 firm orders and 94 options for the aircraft.
