The largest of the four-aircraft Embraer E-Jet family, the E-195, was certificated by the Brazilian civil aviation authority on 30 June. The approval came after a 475h flight-test campaign that involved two E-195s and included contaminated runway trials.
Embraer says certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency will “follow shortly”, adding that this will pave the way for the first deliveries to launch operator Flybe of the UK, which has ordered 14 E-195s.
GE Commercial Aviation Services, Royal Jordanian and Swiss International Air Lines also hold firm orders for the 108 to 118-seat aircraft.
