The US Federal Aviation Administration has awarded Kohler a five-year, $87 million contract for emergency power systems. The diesel and propane generators will provide back-up power at air-traffic-control centres all over the USA. The power units replace back-up systems installed between the 1950s and the early 1970s. The National Engine Generator Replacement project could embrace the purchase of 60 systems in the first year of the contract.
