Emery smoothes the way for 'Apollo 13' lift-off

As a well-known name in the freight industry Emery Worldwide knows all about ‘space'.

So shipping a replica of the historic Apollo 13 command module for its biggest aerospace customer, AlliedSignal, was all in a day's work for the company's aerospace group.

The VIP shipment included six capsule mock-ups for the full scale Apollo 13 model, weighing almost nine tonnes. The replica of the AlliedSignal-built Apollo 13 spacecraft was created by California-based Wonder Works and used in the hit movie Apollo 13 starring Tom Hanks as Cdr James Lovell.
