Middle Eastern carrier Emirates has appointed an area manager for Iraq to expand its operations in the "strategically important" market.
The Dubai-based carrier started serving the country with four flights a week to Basra in February.
It has now named Raed Al Rahma, a UAE national, to oversee passenger, cargo and airport operations as well as sales.
"Raed will play a pivotal role in expanding our operations in this strategically important market," said Ahmed Khoory, senior vice-president commercial operations Gulf, Middle East and Iran.
