Wireless connectivity solutions provider EMS Technologies has created a new division to "leverage the combined strengths" of its aviation businesses.
The unit, called EMS Aviation, will comprise the company's EMS satcom division, which provides Inmarsat SwiftBroadband systems, and the recently-acquired EMS Formation and EMS Sky Connect, which supply air-to-ground connectivity and Iridium-based tracking and messaging, respectively.
"We believe that we are in a global connectivity explosion, one that will result in a world where everything and everyone will be connected," says EMS president and CEO Neil Mackay in a statement.
He notes that EMS Aviation will be able to offer "a full spectrum of connectivity solutions for cockpit and cabin".
EMS has also appointed Nim Evatt, formerly general manager of EMS Formation, as EMS Aviation's vice-president and general manager. Evatt will report to Mackay.
