General Electric (GE) has partnered with Indian conglomerate Tata Sons to manufacture CFM International Leap engine components in India.
The deal was signed between GE and Tata on 29 November, but was only announced on 14 December.
Besides the engine component manufacturing deal, GE and Tata plan to jointly pursue military engine and aircraft system opportunities for the Indian market.
Through a strategic partnership, GE Aviation and a Tata subsidiary, Tata Advanced Systems (TASL), will work together in the manufacturing, assembling, integration, as well as the testing of aircraft components. A centre of excellence will also be established in India to develop an ecosystem for aircraft engine manufacturing and build its related capabilities.

"Tata group’s partnership with GE will help drive synergies in defence manufacturing and focus on innovation to support our armed forces."
