Cessna, Cirrus and New Piper are among manufacturers at AirVenture 2005 to announce upgrades for light aircraft equipped with the latest integrated cockpits.

Cirrus will fit Honeywell’s Bendix/King KGP 560 enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS) as standard on its SR20 and SR22 four-seaters and make retrofit kits available for the 2,000 aircraft already delivered. Cirrus will also fit AmSafe’s seatbelt airbags as standard on parachute-equipped aircraft. Cessna will soon begin installing XM WX satellite weather datalink in single-piston aircraft equipped with Garmin’s G1000 integrated flightdeck. Work is under way on retrofit kits.

New Piper Aircraft will make CMax electronic approach charts and MultiLink datalink services – including XM WX – optional for PA-28 and PA-32 aircraft equipped with Avidyne’s Entegra integrated flightdeck, with deliveries to begin in October and retrofits to follow.

The first Symphony 160 two-seater with Entegra flightdeck was also displayed, with certification expected by early November.
